I vaguely remember reading a post about this maybe 5+ years ago, and I'm attempting to rediscover it.
What I can remember about the post:
There is a processing unit that ran some type of learning code. The learning code was designed to learn how to most efficiently calculate some formula. Due to the silicone lottery, and running time of the processor, some of the traces inside the chip had deteriorated. The learning code was able to work around this damage and still run as intended. The developers were unable to determine how the unit was still running in its current state.
I've been attempting to google my way towards an answer for the past hour, and I cant find it.
